Lesson Plan

Topic – Learn Passive Voice in plain language

Level/ standard – 6-7

Time -2hrs

Materials – whiteboard, smartboard, pen, and book.

Objectives – 1) introduce passive voice to students.

                     2) describe the importance of passive voice.

 

Outcomes –at the end of the lesson

*       Students will be able to answer about passive voice.

*    Students will be able to change their voices.


Introduction – in this lesson, students will learn about passive voice in simple language and the students will do some activities.

Procedure –

        15 minutes show the image and ask.

        40 minutes to introduce the passive voice and types of voices students.

        30 minutes the teacher will teach Tense and Modal verb

        30 minutes ask children to do class activities related to the lesson and the teacher will monitor the activities.

        5 minutes- teacher will give some Home Work and conclude the lesson.

Introduction –Before jumping to the lesson the teacher will ask some questions and show pictures. The lesson is based on the passive voice.

 

The warm up- Teacher will ask about passive voice for 5 minutes, it’s based on GK types of questions.

 

 

 


PASSIVE VOICE

The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or objects that experience rather than the person or object that performs the action. In other words, the most important thing or person becomes the subject.



Active voice – S + M.V (v) + 0

                                       He + plays+ hockey = He plays hockey

Passive voice - S+ V3 + by + 0

         

                        Hockey + is played+ by+ him= hockey is played by him.

 

Voice can be based on –

·        Tenses

·        Modal verbs

·        Let

·        Imperative

·        Infinitives

Active voice                                                    Passive voice

·        She delivers the letters.                        The letters are delivered.

·        Reporter writes news reports.               New reporters are written by reporters

·        The company hired new workers         New workers were hired by the com-

             Last year.                                            -pany last year.    


                        

Activities 1

Given below are active voice, answer Active voice in passive voice-

For examples -


·        1) He plays football.

Football played by him

·       2) She does not play cricket.

-        Cricket is  not played  by Her

·        Do I call you?

·        Rekha was singing a song.

 

·        They will inform you about it.

 

 

2, MODAL VERBS

Can, May, should, could, could have, should, should have, has to, have to, had to, will have, would, etc.

a)     He may punish you for this negligence.

-you may be punished by him for this negligence. 

b)   You should have attended the class today.

-the class should have been attended by you today.

c)     We must raise this matter in public.

-        -This matter must be raised by us in public.

d)    She would have given you the books.

-you would have been given the books by her.

 

 

 

Activities2

Write down the active voice of Modal verbs to the Passive voice of modal verbs.

1.     They will have to arrange rupees 2lakh for this operation.

Look carefully and correct the passive voice, some words are missing and some are wrong, write it correctly.

d)    Does she teach you music? - Are you taught music by her (         )
