In today’s interconnected
world, higher education institutions are challenged with new realities, how to
effectively assist students in advancing their professional development,
gaining skills for successful 21st-century interactions, and starting new careers.
In 21st-century learning, l2 touches new pitches and the learner is
facilitated and equipped with digital, new skills and impactful skills.

language learning was predominantly “mind/brain” focused until the mid-1980s,
when the “social” part of language learning began to gain greater attention,
and “sociocultural theory” began to impact second language learning.
Learning l2 in the 21st
century.
In the 21st century, when information and communication technologies are of great importance, the need for learning a foreign language has also increased, and learning one or more foreign languages became one of the indispensable necessities for every society. Rapid development in information and communication technologies (ICT) has affected education platforms and foreign language learning. The use of technology in teaching and learning environments is increasing technology is indispensable in foreign language education.
In the 21st
century learning, l2 became more convenient than in the past. The instructor
instructs learners to emphasize the judicious use of digital tools, such as
social networking, blogs, and digital story. By using a digital device, a
learner can search for anything he/she wants to learn.
Teaching l2 in the 21st century.
Teaching with digital
equipment and platform such as smartboards, use of commuters, and teaching
through social networking all create a very convenient for modern teachers and
learners in the field of l2 learning.

mentioned, it is clear that learning l2 in the 21st century is more
effective and easier compared to the past, before 21st globalization
and socialization were very limited, as the reason learning l2 does not have
much scope and motivation compared to the 21st century.
