Standard – v [FIVE] - Upper Primary

Time - 1hrs

 

Material – Notebook, pen, whiteboard, Smartboard, Pictures, etc.

 

Objectives –Through this poem aware the student from –

·        Laziness

·        Bad habit

·        And teach good conduct to the student.

 

Outcomes – at the end of the lesson -

·        Students will be aware of laziness.

·        Students will know about the bad habit.


Introduction – in this lesson, we will study the poem “THE LAZY FROG” and do some class activities by making groups.


LESSON

 

Warm-up- look at the picture and discuss the mood of the Frog lying on a lotus leaf by making 4 members in each group.




 

Read this poem loudly- one by one and try to understand the nature of the frog in this poem.

LAZY FROG

Fred is a very lazy frog

Who lolls all day upon a log.

He always manages to shirk

Doing a single stroke of work.


His poor old mother calls in vain

“Come in and help!" he does not bother

To move two inches, much preferring

To be extremely hard of hearing.

He lies there in a silent heap,

And stays conveniently asleep.

 

If a lady frog hops past

You’d think he would get up at last

To bow, and help her on her way

But no, I am ashamed to say

That when a lady frog comes by

He does not open up one eye!

Activity-

Let fun with the words from the poem, and discuss the words and some questions, by making 5 groups each group with 4 students.

·    Who is asking for help from Fred? And did Fred help the person who is asking for help?
